It’s always a challenge to make something great, even better….
For the past 4 years, our race bred Redchilli FR1 has been a stunning race machine. But each time, our vision is to make this even better and for 2021, that challenge was set. The 3rd generation Redchilli FR1 is still very much in the planning stages but, we can at least reveal some tantalising clues as to why the latest FR1 will indeed be even more special.
Full Internal Cable Routing.
2021 FR1 will benefit from a frame specific, fully integrated carbon handlebar and stem whereby all cables run through the bars, on through the head tube and then down through the frame. Not only does this provide a great visual aspect, but also aids what FR1 is all about; aero dynamic.
Torayca (Japan) T800/T1000 High Modulus Carbon.
Traditionally, the frame has been constructed from Toryaca T700/T800 carbon but now, we’ve improved on this and 2021 FR1 will see a blend of Torayca T800/T1000 high modulus carbon – this will make the frame lighter and more responsive, and in turn, this makes for a faster bike.
Wider Tyre Choice.
Back in the day when Redchilli Bikes’ owner, David Darby was racing, tyre width was generally 20mm wide. This was to give low rolling resistance and thus improved speed though if anything, comfort was somewhat compromised with tyres being inflated to 120psi. Nowadays, with tyres being much more advanced, the “racing” norm is to ride a tyre width of 25mm, though some also ride 28mm for improved comfort. 2021 FR1 will accept a tyre of up to 32mm so this gives you all the tyre choices you need.
2021 Redchilli FR1 should be available to order from August 2020. We simply can not wait to bring this stunning bike to you.
